On the Etymology of the Oikonym Vogošća (Sarajevo Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina)

The paper describes the possible etymological development of oikonym Vogošća, name one nine municipalities Sarajevo Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although first traces human presence in area Vogošća date back to Neolithic period, its wider surroundings started being inhabited Antiquity — by Illyrians who, early 1st century AD, were defeated Romans. oldest records this are found 15th 17th centuries Ottoman cadastral books. Based on these defters, written sijakat, a variety Arabic script, form settlement may be restored as Gogošta, Ogošta, Vgošta or Vogošta. These forms should compared with other toponyms that prove both linguistically geographically approximate, namely Ogošte (Ogošta, Hogošt) Kosovo hydronym Ogosta Bulgaria.
